May 27, 1863---The Siege of Port Hudson
MAY 27, 1863:
The Siege
of Port Hudson, Louisiana begins. It will last 48 days. Along with Vicksburg,
Mississippi, Port Hudson is the only remaining Confederate strong point on the
river.
