JUNE 6, 1863:
In true
cavalier fashion, J.E.B. Stuart stages one of the greatest cavalry reviews of
all time at Brandy Station on the Rappahannock River in northern Virginia. 8000
assembled cavalrymen put on a full display designed to show their talents to
Robert E. Lee. Lee did not arrive in time, so the show was staged for local
citizens, dignitaries, and ladies, who had come in on a special railroad train
from Richmond to see the Grand Review. Lee saw a repeat performance the next
day.
