NOVEMBER 6, 1863:
The Battle of Rogersville, Tennessee.
Confederate forces launch a surprise attack on the Union-held town of
Rogersville, Tennessee. In an intense, but shortlived cavalry duel, the
Southerners are able to retake the town, along with the well-stocked Union
supply dump.
Union troops defeat Confederate forces at Droop Mountain, West Virginia.
This almost forgotten battle ends Confederate resistance in the new State.
