September 6, 1864---New Recruits
SEPTEMBER 6, 1864:
Raiders
from Confederate-held Arkansas enter Norristown Missouri on a “recruitment
drive.” All pro-Confederate Missourians
have long since gone South, and Union garrison troops chase the raiders back
into Arkansas without spilling a drop of blood. Elsewhere, the war experiences
one of its rare quiet days.
