January 19, 1863---Smuggling in Key West; the Mud March begins



JANUARY 19, 1863:             

The U.S.S. SAGAMORE captures two blockade runners loaded with military supplies and munitions near Key West.





After several days of inclement weather, the conditions are favorable for General Ambrose Burnside U.S.A. to begin moving his troops along the Rappahannock River.
