January 13, 1863---Grant's new orders: "Take Vicksburg"

JANUARY 13, 1863:             

General Ulysses S. Grant U.S.A. is appointed to lead the Vicksburg Campaign. His former superior, General John McClernand, is made his subordinate. This will lead to ongoing friction between the two men and difficulties in command and on the battlefield.
