January 16, 1863---Burnside's Winter Campaign
JANUARY 16, 1863:
After his
humiliation at Fredericksburg, General Ambrose Burnside submits a new war plan to
President Lincoln: Burnside proposes to cross the Rappahannock and the Rapidan rivers
and attack Lee’s left flank.
