October 25, 1861---Fremont's a free agent
OCTOBER 25, 1861:
President
Lincoln issues orders relieving General John C. Fremont of command in Missouri.
However, Fremont is away from Jefferson City, having retaken Springfield, and
avoids receipt of the order.
