JUNE 6, 1861:
The
Confederate government publishes an announcement encouraging all citizens to
save their seed stocks, since, “You should no longer depend on getting garden
seed from the Northern States.”
The Confederate government also announces that
an auction of furniture from the former Confederate White House in Montgomery,
Alabama “brought in very fine prices.”
