August 15, 1861---Immigrants unwelcome!

AUGUST 15, 1861:      

Jefferson Davis extends his August 8^th Order of Expulsion against Northerners to include all foreign nationals who come from countries that do not recognize the sovereignty of the Confederacy (in effect, all foreign nationals). The expulsion order outrages many foreigners doing business with or residing in the South, and serves to harden overseas diplomatic disapproval of the Confederacy.
