The
Battle of Baton Rouge. Confederate forces attempt to recapture the city of
Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and are repulsed with heavy losses.
Lieutenant
Alexander H. Todd C.S.A., President Lincoln’s brother-in-law and Mary Lincoln's brother, was killed in the
fighting, which claimed 375 Union casualties and 500 Confederates.
