March 4, 1862---Lee becomes Davis' National Security Advisor
MARCH 4, 1862:
General
Robert E. Lee is appointed Military Advisor (essentially Assistant Secretary of
War) to Jefferson Davis. Davis, the Confederate President, is his own Secretary
of War.
