February 19, 1862---U.S. Congress to Coolies: "Go back to China!"
FEBRUARY 19, 1862:
The Union
occupies Fort Defiance, in Clarksville, Tennessee.
On the same day, the U.S. Congress passes an “Anti-Coolie
Law” banning anyone from bringing or transporting Chinese laborers into the
United States.
