Lincoln attends the wedding of Kate Chase, daughter of Secretary of the
Treasury Salmon P. Chase, to Senator-elect William Sprague IV of Rhode Island, the
State’s former governor, and a former colonel who served at the First Battle of
Bull Run. William and Kate are destined to be the young power couple of
Washington D.C. They are attractive, wealthy, and come from powerful political families.
