November 22, 1861---Pensacola pummeled

NOVEMBER 22, 1861:        

Union gunboats and forces at Fort Pickens, Florida bombard Confederate-held Fort McRee in Pensacola Harbor. The Confederates return fire. Pensacola is damaged from the concussive impact, and most of the fish in the harbor die, but the Grays retain control of badly-damaged Fort McRee.
