JULY 5, 1865:
In accordance with the last Bill signed
into law by President Lincoln the United States Secret Service is established.
Although a division of the Treasury Department, and supposedly concerned with
counterfeiting, the Secret Service, due to its inescapable association with
President Lincoln, is soon tasked to guard the President of The United States.
