July 2, 1865---The Army of The Salvation

JULY 2, 1865:            

Catherine and William Booth found the Salvation Army (then known as the Army of The Salvation). A social service and religious Order based on Methodism, it is structured along the lines of the temporal military, with officers of various ranks and “soldiers,” all wearing uniforms.
