SEPTEMBER 10, 1864:
In
addition to the ten major offensives against Petersburg, there were dozens of
minor patrols, actions, and skirmishes during the Siege of Petersburg. The complete list of these events is found in
the Official Records, Serial Numbers
80, 87, and 95. Today, Union troops move against the Confederate works at a
place called The Chimneys. The Union
takes 90 Confederate Prisoners of War. 30 Union men are captured. No deaths are
reported.
