October 5, 1863---The Battle of Pine Bluff, Arkansas
OCTOBER 5, 1863:
The
Battle of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Confederate troops numbering 2,000 try to take
the Union-garrisoned town of Pine Bluff, and are repulsed by 1,000 Federals, a
large number of whom are emancipated slaves.
