SEPTEMBER 21, 1862:
General
Braxton Bragg C.S.A. is marching is 26,000 man Army of The Mississippi deep
into Kentucky, pursued by Don Carlos Buell U.S.A.’s 40,000 man Army of The
Ohio. Bragg cannot take on Buell; Buell is cut off from his escape and supply
base, Louisville. But there is just one other Confederate force in the general
area to aid Bragg; Buell has two. Even after a link-up Bragg will be
outnumbered 80,000 to 35,000. Bragg decides to move northeast and link up
