January 8, 1862---The Battle of Roan's Tanning Yard

JANUARY 8, 1862:             

 The Battle of Roan’s Tanning Yard:  Union troops in north central, Missouri make an attack on a Confederate recruiting and training camp in thick fog. Some 800 Confederate recruits are driven off, and the camp is destroyed.
