JANUARY 7, 1862:
In worsening blizzard conditions, the Stonewall Brigade
moves slowly toward Romney, but runs into a Union force at Hanging Rocks Pass
(there are several engagements here during the war). Although the Union men are
driven off, bad conditions and battle weariness force a temporary halt.
