DECEMBER 19, 1861:
The
Battle of Milford: Union forces
devastate a full brigade of Missouri Volunteer Militia in southwestern
Missouri. Union casualties are light; Confederate casualties were heavy, a
large cache of weapons is seized, and about 700 men are captured, among them
Colonel Ebenezer Magoffin C.S.A., brother of Kentucky Governor Beriah Magoffin.
