NOVEMBER 6, 1862:
General
Robert E. Lee promotes Stonewall Jackson and James Longstreet to the rank of
Lieutenant General. Lee also reorganizes his Command. The Army of Northern
Virginia is organized into two Corps—the I Corps (Longstreet) and the II Corps
(Jackson).
