November 14, 1862---Federal move forward toward Fredericksburg



NOVEMBER 14, 1862:        

President Lincoln believes that the Army of The Potomac would be better used by splitting Robert E. Lee’s army and isolating Stonewall Jackson from “Old Pete” Longstreet, but he gives his troubled approval to General Burnside for the plan to strike at Fredericksburg.  The Army of The Potomac, which had been stalled by the recent blizzard, begins to move again.
