November 10, 1862---Canadians salute Confederates

NOVEMBER 10, 1862:

General McClellan bids farewell to his troops at Warrenton.

On this same day, Matthew Fontaine Maury, C.S.N. puts into Halifax, Nova Scotia to escape the nor’easter raging in the North Atlantic. In keeping with the tone of British neutrality, the city breaks out a band and Confederate flags to greet his vessel.
