November 21, 1862---Burnside's bad bargain

NOVEMBER 21, 1862:

General Ambrose Burnside U.S.A. demands the surrender of Fredericksburg. The Mayor agrees, but asks for time to allow civilians to evacuate. Burnside agrees to this condition. What he does not know is that both Robert E. Lee and General Longstreet have arrived in the city, and they determine that any Union attempt to occupy Fredericksburg will be met with force. They are drawing Burnside into a trap.
