April 17, 1861---Virginia votes to secede
APRIL 17, 1861:
The Virginia House of Burgesses votes for secession, pending
a public referendum on May 23, 1861. The yellow dots on the map indicate
pro-secession voting Burgesses. The blue dots indicate anti-secessionist votes.
