Early 1861---"Surrender or face the consequences!"



APRIL 11, 1861:          

 The Confederates demand surrender of Fort Sumter. After discussing the matter with his officers, Major Robert Anderson refuses, but adds that the garrison will be starved out in a few days without relief, anyway. Fort Pickens, in Florida, is resupplied without incident.
