July 24, 1861---The Far Western Theater

JULY 24, 1861:   

Rebel forces in the C.S.A. Arizona Territory invade the U.S.A Territory of New Mexico. The Confederate invasion force numbers 258 men. The Union has at least 500 men garrisoning the main fort in the New Mexico Territory. This marks the South’s first invasion of the North.
