March 2, 1863---A hot skirmish



MARCH 2, 1863:        

Outside of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, a large Federal expedition meets a strong Rebel cavalry force, resulting in a hot skirmish. The end result was the quick retreat of the Rebels, whose casualties were reported as “considerable.” In Virginia, Union cavalry surprises Mosby’s Rangers, capturing 30 Rebels.
