April 4, 1862---The Union advances: Montevallo MO burns; Richmond VA is threatened; Pittsburg Landing TN is occupied



APRIL 4, 1862:           

 Montevallo, Missouri was burned to the ground in a skirmish between Confederate supporters under bushwhacker/sheriff Henry Taylor and Union troops under the command of Colonel John T. Coffee. 



On the Virginia Peninsula, McClellan’s invasion force reaches the Warwick Line, manned by Jeb Magruder’s forces. 

In Tennessee, Confederate troops move toward Pittsburg Landing.
