Two
hundred Pro-Confederate Kentuckians meet in Russellville and vote to establish
a Confederate government for their State.
Julia Ward Howe writes the lyrics to “Battle Hymn of the
Republic.” The tune was previously “John Brown’s Body” and before that, “We
will Meet On The Beautiful Shore,” a campfire song.
