November 16, 1861---"Piracy!"



NOVEMBER 16, 1861:       

 The U.S.S. SAN JACINTO makes port at Hampton Roads, Virginia, with Mason and Slidell aboard. The Union public lionizes Captain Charles Wilkes of the SAN JACINTO. Internationally, there is an outcry about the Union’s “piracy.”
