OCTOBER 21, 1862:
Much of Arkansas is in Union hands, or is a No-Man’s Land
lacking an organized Confederate military presence. General Thomas Hindman
C.S.A. arrives in Little Rock to reorganize the scattered Confederate partisan
groups into an effective fighting force.
