FEBRUARY 27, 1862:
P.G.T. Beauregard C.S.A. receives word from Richmond
that Columbus, Kentucky is at risk, and that New Madrid, Missouri is also
facing Union seizure. Unbeknownst to his superiors, Beauregard has already abandoned
Columbus, and is moving his men toward New Madrid.
