Once friends, Unionist Wild Bill Hickok and former
Confederate Davis Tutt have a one-on-one shootout at midday in the town square
of Springfield, Missouri over a bad hand in a card game. Tutt is shot to death
yelling, “Boys, I’m killed!”

The
showdown at “High Noon” becomes a legendary staple of Westerns, though this
incident is one of only very few documented “reach for it!” gunfights.
